"I have no individual goals. We play for one reason and
that's to win the title. Practice is more important than the games, and I
will practice when I'm hurt, when 95 percent of the players in this league
would sit out. I expect all of you to do the same thing.
You will follow my
lead."
-Michael Jordan, the Chicago Bulls

All gymnasts will have this same attitude towards their own
practices! Practice is the time to polish and learn new skills.
Gymnasts are expected to:
- Be in the gym on time and ready to work out. Please have your
hair pulled up and leotard on when you come into the gym. You will have
assigned leotards to wear each day to practice.
- Be at practice everyday! Schedule tutoring and doctor
appointments after morning workouts or after school. The only excused
absences are personal illness, family emergency, or representing your
school in another activity. If you know you will miss a practice due to
any of these excused reasons, please call or send me an e-mail ahead of
time.
- Come into the gym with a positive attitude and be ready to work
hard. Leave everything else going on in life outside the gym. “Ask
yourself a question: is my attitude worth catching?” Negative attitudes
and gossip will not be tolerated.
- Be an encourager and a team leader in and outside the gym. We are a
team working towards the same goal and I want us to build each other up.
Think of this team as a “family” and we are here to support each other.
- Use their time in the gym wisely. There will be no sitting
during practice. Remember there are only five spots in line-up on each
event.
- Accept criticism and critique in a positive manner. Teammates
and coaches are here to help encourage each gymnast to become the best
gymnast they can be!
- Gymnasts must see the trainer for an injury either before or after
practice to get treatment. It is important that gymnasts treat their
injuries so they will be healthy when it comes time to compete. In the
event that a gymnast has an injury, they are still required to come to
practice and do modified conditioning or encourage their teammates.
- Get plenty of sleep each night and go to bed at a decent hour
(10pm). Practices are very early in the morning and each gymnast will need
energy to be alert and have a productive practice. The night before a
meet, gymnasts must get plenty of rest so they are mentally/physically
prepared to do their job.
- Choose healthy meals and snacks everyday, especially before
morning practices and meets. Avoid greasy foods, lots of sugar, and cokes.
Proper nutrition is imperative!
- Be on their best behavior when we travel to meets. We will set
a good example for our school and gymnastics program. We represent Lady
Hawks Gymnastics!
- Gymnast will cheer at for their teammate at competitions. There
will be no sitting around during a meet. During a meet we will stay in
what I like to call the “Box.” As a team, we will stand close together to
support, cheer, and encourage our teammate while she is competing. This is
part of being a team and the beginning of a new tradition.
